In Honor of Andrew
by Nancy Orlen Weber
A soul takes form and ventures into the physical world. Sometimes that soul takes a path that brings love and greater awareness to those they have lived with, even after they leave this earth and move beyond our known world into the mysterious "other side". Andrew is such a beloved soul.
Andrew took the form of a Cairn Terrier on April 28, 1992. Born at a puppy mill he was adopted by a family who had a four year old Cairn Terrier, Scottie. When they took him home along with his official papers they noticed some familiar words on the papers. His mother was Scottie's mother! Scottie's brother had found his way into the same family. He was raised along with two human daughters, and his brother, Scottie, by a couple who cared deeply for Andrew. When he passed away, Janet and Chris (the mom and one of her daughters) decided to find out how Andrew was doing. Knowing I speak to the "other side" they asked me if Andrew was at peace.
Andrew, immediately "popped up" somewhere in the air, above and to the right of my head. He and I had a lovely chat, all without words being spoken.
Nancy to Janet and Chris: "Andrew says hi and is quite peaceful. He thanks you for helping him leave. He had a tough time at the end, but only for a few moments."
Janet and Chris smiled as they remembered how sweet and silly, but kind of dumb Andrew was, noting that his brother, still happily with them, was "the smarter one".
Andrew relayed to Nancy: "Silly huh. Chris, I slept with you for years while you were growing up. Which one of us was grumpy going to bed“you or me?"
Smiling Chris responded: "Me."
Andrew continued relaying through Nancy: "And who woke up grumpy every morning“me or you?"
Again Chris said: "Me."
Andrew's reply was swift. "And you think I was dumb. Who had the better time, spending every moment as if it counted? I loved you each and every moment, not just when I was having a good time. I put in the effort to feel joy at everything in my life and then share it with you and everyone else."
Andrew continued: "I loved when Greg watched that television show where all the men ran and the ball went high up. I always watched that with him. That was great. We loved it."
Janet and Chris laughed loudly.
"Andrew always ran in when Greg watched basketball games. Andrew would climb up Greg's leg, lay his head on Greg's knee and stare at the television."
Andrew is not only fun, but understood while he lived on earth, that his job was to bring joy and a heart full of love. His playful silly attitude was a spiritual choice, rather than a lack of intelligence. We all know how laughter pours healing chemicals throughout the body, and certainly Andrew brought out the funny side of everyone. That's a healing attitude. That's a teacher of love. Andrew loved all of you regardless of whether you took care of yourselves and whether you saw him as he saw himself. He was so good at demonstrating sheer unabashed love for life that it was contagious. You would smile back at him. You would go to him when you were down to lift you up. He was a steady vision of love. He wants you to know he still is.
Andrew and all other beloved friends who are with us in memory...
May your journey into the light continue onward with the sweetest of feelings,
May you feel the love that we send with you,
May all the blessings you bestowed on us be returned to you again and again and again.
Thank you for your companionship, your heartfelt friendship and your teachings.
May we meet again on the path of love.
